Congratulations 2024 NASAT Champions Missouri A

Missouri A won their state’s second ever National All-Star Academic Tournament (NASAT) championship, holding off Maryland in an advantaged best of three final. Maryland took second, with Illinois Cyan placing third. Fourth place was a tie between Kentucky and Missouri B.

Tournament All-Stars were Yrwin Batan of Missouri B; Camden Williams of Missouri A; Janani Gollapalli of Virginia A; Christopher Stewart of Oklahoma Crimson; Omkar Marathe of Illinois Cyan; Rachel Ezrielev of Maryland; Sam Kemeny of Illinois Cobalt; Soren Gjesfjeld of Illinois Cerulean; Michael Yicheng Ai of Asia; and Charan Pratapaneni of Oklahoma Orange.

Congratulations Undergraduate Champion Cornell!

Cornell University won our second Undergraduate Championship, going 12-1 and defeated the University of Chicago A in the final. Chicago A took second place. Columbia A and Rutgers tied for third.

Tournament All-Stars were Jason Hong of Brown A, Joseph Chambers of Virginia, Aum Mundhe of Rutgers, John John Groger of Columbia B, Eshan Pant of NYU, Cerulean Ozarow of Brown B, Richard Niu of Cornell, and Luke Zhang of Emory.

IQBT Hawaii Introductory Tournament – December 9, 2023

International Quiz Bowl Tournaments, LLC (IQBT) is pleased to announce the IQBT Hawaii Introductory Tournament. This tournament will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

This tournament is only open to teams from schools based in Hawaii.

This tournament will be played on IQBT’s Regular Season Set 2. This set is meant to be of normal high school difficulty.

This tournament will consist of up to eight rounds. Depending on the number of teams involved, we will use either round robin or Swiss pairs scheduling.

Each match will consist of 20 tossups and 20 bonuses. Teams may consist of up to six players, with four players playing at any one time. Teams with less than four players are allowed.

We will be using Zoom as our platform. Zoom requires the owner of an account to be at least 16 years of age.

The entry fee is $70 per team.

IQBT Releases NASAT, Undergraduate Championship Sets for Free

IQBT has released multiple question sets for free, including:

  • The 2023 Undergraduate Championship Tournament, our collegiate national championship
  • The 2023 Undergraduate Championship Qualifier Packet, the qualifier for the previously mentioned
  • The 2023 National All-Star Academic Tournament, our high school national championship.

IQBT RSS #1 Available for Free

International Quiz Bowl Tournaments (IQBT) is happy to announce that our IQBT Regular Season Set #1 (RSS #1) is now freely available for use as a practice set.

RSS #1 consists of 12 packets of 21 tossups and 21 bonuses. These questions are intended to be at high school regular season difficulty.

Congratulations to the 2023 IQBT Undergraduate Champions, the University of Chicago!

On the weekend of March 4 and March 5, 2023, 29 teams representing 24 colleges and universities from the United States and Canada competed against each other to determine who had the best team of undergraduate quiz bowl players.

The University of Chicago’s A team of Amogh Kulkarni, Ned Tagtmeier, Vivek Sasse, and Henry Cafaro went undefeated to win the tournament. The University of Illinois of Urbana-Champaign’s A team of Mitch McCullar, Justin Wytmar, Max Brodsky, and Yash Mandavia finished second, defeating Cornell University’s A team of Raymond Wang, Geoffrey Chen, Nathan Zhang, and Mitchell Indek in a tiebreaking game. Cornell finished third.

Fourth place Georgia Tech (Arya Karthik, Tegan Kapadia, S.A. Shenoy, and Quentin Mot), fifth place Harvard University (Arjun Nageswaran, Mazin Omer, and Jeffrey Fung), and sixth place the University of Texas (Karan Gurazada, Chinmay Murthy, Jisoo Yoo, and Raul Passement) rounded out the top six.
